Ronaldo is going to participate in the debate hosted by Martin Sorrell at the Palais des Festivals

Mr. Ronaldo Nazário, managing partner of sports marketing agency 9ine, is going to be one of the speakers at the 2012 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, held between June 17 and 23. This is going to be the first time he has ever taken part in the event. The retired soccer player said in an interview to Meio & Mensagem in October 2011 that he would probably be going to participate in the traditional debate usually hosted by WPP Group’s CEO Martin Sorrell at the Palais des Festivals.

According to the festival organizers, Mr. Nazário is going to be on the stage at the famous Cannes Debate together with Mr. Sorrell and Lord Sebastian Coe, the Chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Mr. Dan Wieden (a partner at Wieden+Kennedy), Mr. John Hegarty (one of BBH’s founders), Mr. Andrew Keller (Crispin, Porter + Bogusky’s CEO) and Mr. Peter Roth (Warner Bros. Television’s CEO) are also going to be among the speakers, in addition to singer and composer Smokey Robinson.

Brazilian jury members

The organizers of the 2012 Cannes Festival have also published the full list of Brazilian jury members. There will be 14 jury members overall. The new Branded Content & Entertainment category is the only one that is not going to have a Brazilian jury member (see below).

The Brazilian jury members are going to have one more duty this year. Committees are going to be organized for each of the 15 categories awarded in Cannes. Professionals responsible for the entries are going to be invited to take part in them. The goal is to improve the quality of the presentations, as well as increase the number of entries, participating agencies and Lions awarded.

The items that should be improved include the translations in the Radio category, the quality of subtitles in the Film category and the adaptation of the Brazilian sense of humor to make it easier for the jury members from different cultures to understand it.
